More than a century ago, Sir P. S. Sivaswami Ayyar – an advocate, philanthropist, and pioneer in women’s education – dedicated himself to shaping young minds. He firmly believed in the power of education and took it upon himself to establish two schools: a girls’ school in Mylapore, Chennai, and a boys’ school in Thirukattupalli, Thanjavur.

His commitment went beyond just founding schools. To ensure the Lady Sivaswami Ayyar Girls’ School thrived, he made a remarkable sacrifice – selling his own home to fund and sustain it. In recognition of his immense contribution, the school was posthumously named after him.

On 7th February 1989, the National Boys’ and Girls’ Education Society marked his 125th birth anniversary in a meaningful way – by establishing Sir Sivaswami Kalalaya Senior Secondary School in a newly constructed building, “Sudharma,” built in his honor.

The journey continued. On 17th July 2000, the society founded Sir Sivaswami Kalalaya Higher Secondary School in Mandaveli, carrying forward his vision for quality education. Then, in 2020, to accommodate the growing need for younger students, the school was shifted to its present location – Sir Sivaswami Kalalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School, No. 26A, East Mada Street, Mylapore, Chennai – 600 004.

Today, as we continue this journey, one principle remains at our core – every child is unique. Our schools are built on this belief, ensuring that every student finds their own path to learning and success.
